We’re taught to track our cycles with apps, calendars, and ovulation strips. While these can be useful, they often leave out the most important and most accurate tool you already have: your body’s own awareness.
Somatic awareness is the practice of tuning into physical sensations, emotions, and energy shifts that occur within you. When applied to your menstrual cycle, it becomes a powerful way of predicting changes long before they show up on an app.

Every phase of the cycle, menstrual, follicular, ovulatory, and luteal carries its own somatic “signatures.” These show up as subtle (or not-so-subtle) sensations:
