MY CREDENTIALS

ABOUT ME

As a generational cycles mentor, I’ve witnessed how unresolved pain can silently shape our thoughts, behaviours, and relationships across generations. Intergenerational trauma often hides in patterns we normalise or struggles we accept as "just life." Breaking the cycle starts with awareness.

Signs of intergenerational trauma include intense emotional reactions without clear causes, self-sabotaging behaviours, recurring family struggles like financial instability or addiction, and feelings of disconnection, guilt, or unexplainable shame. These patterns may stem from inherited pain, but the cycle doesn’t have to continue. Together, we can rewrite the story.

THE SISTERHOOD HEALING MEMBERSHIP

When I first learnt about intergenerational trauma I was completed fascinated. It totally resonated with me that I was carrying suffering that wasn't mine to carry, and that I had felt a deep sadness and discomfort in my bones since I was young.

Breaking away my intergenerational trauma meant doing a lot of healing work around traumatic events, and how these had manifested in my mind and body. Understanding my ancestral lineage, on my mother and fathers side, meant I could understand myself much more deeply. For the first time I had compassion for myself, and a deep reverence for what had gone before me.

This compassion and understanding allowed me to end many of the dysfunctional patterns that had existed in my family for many generations. It is still a cornerstone of how I navigate the world, and continues to allow me the space to continue to break cycles of intergenerational trauma in my own life

INTERGENERATIONAL TRAUMA & ME

MY STORY

Generational trauma cycles are rooted in ancestral emotional distress, ongoing stress, and inherited vulnerabilities passed down through generations. For instance, if a grandparent endured chronic stress or adversity—such as marginalization, immigration struggles, or poverty—it could alter their gene expression. These genetic changes can predispose their children, including your parent, to specific emotional vulnerabilities.

The next layer of intergenerational trauma unfolds in your parent’s lifetime. If your grandparent was consumed by unprocessed trauma, they may have struggled to attune to or repair their relationship with their child. This can lead your parent to face challenges like abusive relationships, self-medication, or unresolved mental health issues, perpetuating the cycle.

Then comes you. You inherit genetic predispositions from your parents and grandparents, along with the emotional patterns shaped by their experiences. You might struggle with addictive behaviors, chronic sadness, or a persistent sense of unworthiness, drawing experiences that reinforce these feelings. The cycle continues—until you make the courageous choice to break it.
